Fish feeding guide

You can rotate or combine fish types — just ensure total fish servings don’t exceed 3 times weekly. This ensures optimal omega-3 benefits without overloading on natural vitamin D or calcium.

🧬 Sardines & Salmon: Nutrient Overview

These freeze-dried fish bring incredible benefits, including:

  • Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA & DHA) for skin, coat, brain & joint health

  • Calcium & phosphorus (from tiny edible bones)

  • Protein, iodine & B vitamins

BUT they’re nutrient-dense, so moderation matters — especially due to:

  • Calorie load

  • Possible overlap with supplements or organ meat (e.g. vitamin D from liver & fish together)

🎯 Recommended Weekly Intake for Large Dogs (>15kg)

  • Sardines: Up to 3 per week

  • Salmon smolt: Up to 2 per week

You can alternate or include both (e.g. 2 sardines + 2 salmon smolts/week)but limit total fish-based meals to 2–3 per week total.

✔️ Smart Schedule Example:

  • Mon: Salmon smolt (main protein) + veg & grains

  • Wed: Kangaroo + liver + veg

  • Fri: Sardines as topper + chicken base

  • Other days: Primary meat rotation (poultry, roo, etc.)

🚨 Avoid:

  • Giving fish daily (risk of vitamin imbalance, especially if also feeding liver often)

  • Doubling up fish + fish oil unless advised by a vet

  • Using fish as more than about 10–15% of the weekly diet
