Meal combination guide
While freeze-dried treats are not complete meals on their own, they can build balanced diets when combined thoughtfully. Follow these rules:
Muscle Meat (70–80%):
Examples: Chicken, Kangaroo, Duck Heart
Role: Primary protein source for energy and muscle health.
Organs (10–15%):
Examples: Beef Liver, Goat Pluck
Role: Vital nutrients like iron (liver), taurine (heart), and B vitamins.
Whole Prey/Fish (10–15%):
Examples: Sardines, Salmon Smolt
Role: Omega-3s, calcium (from bones), and trace minerals.
See the feeding safety guide here on fish
🐾 Example Combos
Use veggies, grains, or oils as per vet-recommended ratios.
For Dogs 10kg (Sample Weight):
Proteins: 10 pieces of Chicken (Primary) + 8 pieces Kangaroo (Rotational)
Organs: 8–10 pieces (3x/week max to avoid vitamin A overload)
Fish/Whole Prey: 1–2 Sardines weekly (for omega-3 boost)
Extras: Add lentils and pumpkin (~2 tbsp)
🌿 Balancing Act Tips
Rotate proteins weekly to avoid allergies and boredom (e.g., Chicken → Kangaroo → Duck)
Limit organ meats to 1–2x/week unless vet-approved
Fish: Serve 2–3x/week for omega-3s but skip if using salmon oil supplements
Goat pluck (liver, lungs, heart): Use sparingly (1–2 tbsp weekly) as a micronutrient booster

🚨 Three Golden Rules
Organs are powerful — Overfeeding liver/heart can cause vitamin toxicity. Stick to guidelines.
Fish bones matter — Our sardines/smolt include soft, edible bones. Avoid adding other calcium sources if serving these.
Hydrate always — Freeze-dried foods absorb moisture. Ensure fresh water is available.
